According to the Russell authority, Byron Price (Charles M. Russell: A Catalog Raisonne, University of Oklahoma Press, 2007), this drawing was never published as an illustration during the artist’s lifetime. It may have been created as an amusement to the artist or as a gift to someone memorializing a special occasion.
