Sherry Harrington  Artworks >>

Self-taught painter Sherry Harrington specializes in Native American portraits. The artist began painting at an early age and by twelve she was exhibiting at outdoor arts and crafts shows. She earned enough money at these shows to buy her first car. The artist also made a contact which led to commercial work for RCA records for whom she painted pastels of singers including Charly Pride and Elvis Presley. Harrington continued to enter local shows including the Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Arts in Clifton, Texas. In her fourth year of competition she won all four top awards including Best of Show, Artist of Choice, Children's Choice and the Jones Fellowship Award. She used the prize money from that competition to attend a plein air workshop with Kevin Macpherson. Harrington remains committed to her figurative work and her Native American subjects. The artist and her husband make yearly trips to reservations in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota. Source
