Gene Cooper (b. 1938)  Artworks >>

Gene Cooper is a native Southern Californian. He pursued graduate studies in art history at several universities, including the University of Hawaii, UCLA, and USC. He was a professor of art history at the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and California State University, Long Beach. After retiring in 2003, he turned to painting on a daily basis, although the routine is sometimes interrupted by a study trip, a public lecture, or writing an article. On occasion he also curates exhibitions. "Rummaging through the attic of art history, Gene Cooper takes on the ambitious task of commingling previously unrelated visual forms into a new relationship of formal order, empathetic connection and aesthetic pleasures." -Wayne Thiebaud Source askart.com
