After a poor upbringing and many scrapes with the law, Franciso Pancho Villa, the bandit and outlaw, became convinced that through his banditry he could fight for the people and hurt the hacienda owners. Villa gathered his mounted bandits and turned them into soldiers. His men and supporters became known as Villistas during the revolution which lasted from 1910 to 1920. Jim Carson, February, 2016
