Dan Sprick (b. 1953)  Artworks >>

A still-life painter of everyday objects that speak of a throw-away society as well as interiors that have a surrealistic quality, Daniel is a widely exhibited Colorado artist whose style is realism. Occasionally he will incorporate his own studio or a landscape scene into still lifes as well as artifacts from travels to exotic places such as New Guinea. He credits Dutch painters Jan Van Eyck and Jean Vermeer as among major influences as well as Baroque and Renaissance painters, and he also took many art history courses at the University of Northern Colorado. He chose that school because it was not dominated by avant-garde artist teachers. In the late 1990s, he spent a year in California to challenge himself because he felt he was too complacent in his spacious studio in Glenwood Springs in the Rocky Mountains. Except for short periods, he has lived in that town since he was six years old. Source askart.com
