Susan Amstater  Artworks >>

A native of El Paso, Susan Amstater is first and foremost a colorist with her distinctive approach to landscape painting. Nature is her chosen subject matter, for it best reflects her personal experience within her environment. Amstater prefers to interpret the landscape with imagination rather than creating a literal and traditional description. She takes a representational scene and brings forth its abstractness through the use of vivid color and well-defined forms. Amstater studied at Otis Art Institute, University of Colorado, and UCLA. Her works are in public collections including the Smith-Barney collection in Santa Fe, NM and the Trust of the West in Los Angeles, CA. Her exhibitions include the Rising Star Invitational Show, Wickenburg, AZ in 2001, Desert Echo Show/ Women's Museum, Dallas, TX in 2001 and a solo show at the EL Paso Museum of Art, El Paso, TX in 1995. Susan Amstater was inducted into the EL Paso Hall of Fame of EL Paso, TX in 1999. Reference:
