John Servas (1886 - 1953)  Artworks >>

The following information was submitted in June of 2006 by his great-niece Dorothy Hoadley: This artist is my great-uncle. He was born in Germany in 1886 and immigrated to this country with his mother Anna Servas and his brothers, Jacob, Louis and Charles in 1892. The family settled in Rochester, New York and lived in the 21st ward. I do not have any education records. Later in the 30's and 40's he resided in Chicago, Illinois and was associated with the1939 Worlds Fair. He was married with no children. He died in Evanston, Illinois in 1953 and is buried in Rochester, New York . I remember uncle John visiting us when I was a child and remember him as a kind, generous and dignified man.
