Andre Balyon (b. 1951)  Artworks >>

Andre Balyon was born in The Hague in 1951. He is the oldest of seven children. His first paintings were completed when he was fifteen. For the next seven years he studied art with a number of fine artists in the Netherlands before moving to the United States in 1973. He continued his painting in Miami and then moved to Los Angeles where he further refined his technique for six years. Following a number of exhibitions in California, Colorado and Houston, Balyon returned to his native Holland for additional studies. In the early eighties, he settled in Carmel Valley. "I love to paint the Dutch landscapes, it's where my heart is," declares André. "Growing up in Holland, I felt the moisture saturated air, it is there where I gazed for hours on end at the dramatic cloud formations, caused by the colliding warm air from a gulf stream, the North Sea, with cold air masses from the North." He visits his native country regularly, which explains the prominence of the Dutch landscape in most of his work. Reference: askart.com
