- 2003 Santa Fe Auction (sold $13,800)
Between 1907 and 1930, E.S. Curtis published a twenty volume set of photographs titled The North American Indian. In it he documented every major Native American tribe west of the Mississippi, drawing from his portfolio of over 40,000 negatives of 80 tribes. This gold tone photograph of Navajos on horseback riding through spring runoff in Canyon de Chelly was published as a photogravure in the first volume.
