Electra Waggoner was from the legendary Waggoner Ranch family. The present offering is a smaller version of the monumental casting she created that is in front of the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Forth Worth, Texas. The statue was commissioned by Amon Carter in 1936, completed in 1939 and dedicated in 1947. President Harry Truman, whose portrait was also sculpted by Biggs, was in attendance. The artist was also commissioned to sculpt Dwight D. Eisenhower, Bob Hope, Knute Rockne and many other notable Americans.
