Signed: "Allan Houser '91 [artist's cipher] 1/8", low side of figure
Houser was the recipient of state art awards from the governors of New Mexico and Oklahoma in 1980 and 1983, and was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1985. In 1992 he became the first American Indian to receive the National Medal of Arts, present to him by President George Bush. In 1993 he received the Prix de West Aware from the National Academy of Western Art at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City.
