Inscribed base of bronze: Fraser © ‘Kunst Foundry N.Y.
In 1926, Fraser’s dream of a monumental casting came into reality, when he was commissioned to make a 11 1/2 foot high unique version that was cast by Kunst Foundry of New York and was placed in Shaler Park in Waupun, Wisconsin, where it still stands. Fraser created this monument from scratch and it was the only monumental bronze casting of End of the Trail during the artist’s lifetime. In addition to the monument, Kunst Foundry (active in the first half of the 20th century) cast a number of 12 inches in height versions, one of which is the present offering. Altermann Galleries sold another Kunst casting of End of the Trail, December 15th 2007, in Santa Fe.
