She was born February 11, 1925 in Hungary and died February 15, 2005. The Funeral was held at Wichmann Funeral Home in Menasha, Wisconsin. Claire studied at the Budapest Fine Arts Academy in Hungary. She immigrated to the United States in the 1950's and continued her studies at the Chicago Art Institute. She worked as a commercial artist for a short time, but was encouraged to pursue her own work by Bill Ruby, her husband. Claire was a skilled impressionist painter and also an astute businesswoman. She had an understanding of what people liked and would buy. When she painted human subjects, she had the unique skill of capturing an image in such a way as to evoke emotions. One example is her painting of boy at the piano. Her paintings sold well. Her work was shown at galleries across the U.S. The Richard Thompson Gallery in San Francisco, California ran limited edition prints and posters of Claire's paintings in the past. Source askart.com
