Indian Girl Seated by Oven won the National Academy's first Logan Prize and the Salmagundi Club's, Shaw Purchase Prize. The latter commendation was especially revered by Blumenschein as it placed him in the vortex of national art life. Each year art patron Samuel T. Shaw hosted a dinner party for the winner of his prize. The highlight of the evening came when those 47 signatures include: E. L. Blumenschein, F. Tenney Johnson, W. Glackens, Charles Curran and Bruce Crane. The painting is illustrated on page 207 of "In Contemporary Rhythm: The art of Ernest L. Blumenschein".
