With the unaided eye, the piece appears to be in very good condition. Closer inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence of artist's pigments, and fluorescence signs of restoration and inpainting. This work has been lined. There is an area showing restoration in the sky of the upper left, just above the horses head. This area is actually overpainting covering an approximately 7 by 7 inch portion of the sky. There are several very small points of inpainting approximately 1 inch to the left of the kneeling subjects head. The piece is framed in a gold, somewhat ornate frame with a narrow linen liner. The frame is in good condition with normal wear. There is corner separation and the linen fabric is torn in the lower right corner.
