With the unaided eye, the piece appears to be in very good condition. Closer inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a diagonal line of inpainting running from the central horses brow downward to its right front leg. This line is approximately 5 inches in length and 1/16 inch in width. Another shorter line of inpainting, approximately 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch appears in the right leg of the man standing in the foreground. The piece is framed in a rustic brown frame with a rust colored suede liner and a rustic narrow inner liner. The frame is in very good condition with little wear.
