To the unaided eye, the piece looks to be in good condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals inpainting in several areas of the upper sky. These are all approximately 1/8 by 3/8 inches in size. Underneath the signature is an indecipherable, vaguely visible word before the word Thunderbolt. The work is framed in an antique white scoop molding about 1” wide. The frame is in good condition with normal wear. Verso: Inscribed on panel: Sloane original #3- 150.00 1941 Sloane (possibly in artists hand) 1941 Sloane Studio Roslyn L.l—9000 FT. Over Los Alamos. Label: previous Altermann Galleries label.
Signed l/r: 9000 Ft-Last Light Eric Sloane (indecipherable word) Thunderbolt
