Very Rare Identified Buffalo Hunters Sharps with letter identifying the gun to Thomas Linton. Linton’s testimonial letters appear in the Sharps catalog where he praises Sharps guns and notes that in 1872 he killed over 3,000 buffalo with a Sharps. Gun was shipped to Troy Kansas in 1873. Linton is mentioned in the Encyclopedia of Buffalo Hunters and Skinners and will be mentioned in Volume 3 of this same book. This is one of only a very few Sharps conclusively identified to a known buffalo hunter. Gun is accompanied by a letter by Dr. Richard Labowskie who is the custodian of the sharps records confirming this gun was shipped to Thomas Linton as well as a copy of the Sharps Catalog. There is also a copy of a Census from 1870 where Linton is listed.
